John Hoggard
Director
John trained in furniture design and worked for 25 years in retail design. He moved into lighting a decade ago and enjoys designing products as well as spaces.
When he’s not working he enjoys time on the blustery Norfolk coast.
Tom
Director
Tom came to Basis after receiving his MDes from the RCA. A key player in our design team, Tom is also enjoys building relationships with clients and solving the unsolvable.
At weekends there’s nothing he likes more than a challenging cycle ride.
Kate Hoggard
Director
Kate has had eclectic career from working in arts documentaries through PR and now lighting. Kate’s main role is with the finances, but she’s always ready with an opinion on design….
When not working she too enjoys the blustery Norfolk coast with John.
Frank Fernandez
R&D manager
Frank worked in optical engineering for 20 years before coming to Basis. Here he is our favourite problem solver.
When not in work he loves to travel in Europe enjoying the food, or back home enjoying his boisterous Grandsons.
Jonny Naylor
Assembly & sales
Jonny joined Basis in 2022. An incredibly versatile member of staff equally at home talking to customers, assembling lights or ordering components.
When not in work he’ll probably be doing something football related – either watching his son play for a local primary school team or the big boys on the tv.
Charlie Sumboo
Stock control & assembly
“Ask Charlie” – that’s what we all say. There isn’t a knuckle or chip he isn’t aware of. Not only does he look after stock, but he’s an expert assembler, never flustered always focussed.
Jess Hoggard
Assembly & sales
Jess is the youngest of the Hoggard family in the business. Just part time while at college she enjoys learning about the processes and is always happy to help out from making tea to assembling lights.
